Recent Changes to the Spanish-language versions of the Home Health Care CAHPS Survey Mail Survey, Telephone Script and Proxy Script

The following are changes that were recently made to the Spanish-language version of the Home Health Care CAHPS mail survey, scannable survey, telephone script and proxy respondent script.

  1. Language text of the instructions in bullet #2 of the Mail survey was changed to match the text in the Scannable survey.
    • Previous language was: A veces hay que saltarse alguna pregunta del cuestionario. Cuando esto ocurra, verá una flecha con una nota que le indicará la siguiente pregunta a la que tiene que pasar.
    • New Language is: A veces se le indica que debe saltarse algunas preguntas de esta encuesta. Cuando ocurra, verá una flecha con una nota que le indica qué pregunta es la siguiente, de esta manera:
  2. Q3 formatting, changes were made for consistency in bolding.
    • Telephone script- bolded “le” and removed bolding from “sobre”. Changed from “le habló sobre” to “le habló sobre.”
    • Proxy script –removed bolding from “sobre.”
  3. INTRO TO Q6, inserted the word “todo” (all) for consistency among all versions.
    • Mail Survey, changed “Las siguientes preguntas son sobre el personal…” to “Las siguientes preguntas son sobre todo el personal…”
    • Scannable Survey, changed “Las siguientes preguntas son sobre el personal…” to “Las siguientes preguntas son sobre todo el personal…”
  4. Q4, made the bolding match between mail and telephone surveys.
    • Telephone script, removed bolding from “las” in “las medicinas.”
  5. Q6, inserted the word ‘un’ (a) for consistency among versions.
    • Mail Survey, changed “o enfermero” to “o un enfermero.”
    • Scannable Survey, changed “o enfermero” to “o un enfermero.”
  6. Q7, changed wording for consistency among versions.
    • Mail Survey, changed “un físico terapeuta, en terapia física…” to “un especialista en terapia física…”
    • Scannable Survey, changed “un físico terapeuta, en terapia física…” to “un especialista en terapia física…”
  7. Q9, changed wording for consistency among versions.
    • Telephone script, changed text in the question from “todos los cuidados o todos los tratamientos” to “todo el cuidado o tratamiento”
    • Telephone script, changed text in the fifth response option from “una persona?” to “un proveedor?”
    • Proxy script, changed “todos los cuidados o todos los tratamientos” to “todo el cuidado o tratamiento.”
    • Telephone script, changed text in the fifth response option from “una persona?” to “un proveedor?”
  8. Q10, deleted redundant phrase ‘en su casa’ for consistency among versions.
    • Mail Survey, changed ‘esta agencia en su casa…” to “esta agencia…”
    • Scannable version, changed ‘esta agencia en su casa…” to “esta agencia…”
  9. Q12, added a preposition “de” for consistency within the questionnaire.
    • All questionnaires changed from “cuidado salud” to “cuidado de salud.”
    • Mail survey, removed bolding from second ‘razón.’
  10. Q15, changed wording for consistency among versions.
    • Mail Survey, changed “informado” to “informado(a). ”
    • Scannable Survey, changed “informado” to “informado(a). ”
  11. Q17, wording corrections made to telephone script and proxy script so they match the mail survey wording.
    • Language in both scripts changed as follows : « En los últimos 2 meses en que usted recibió servicios de salud en su casa, ¿con qué frecuencia le explicaron los proveedores del cuidado de salud de esta agencia las cosas de una manera que era fácil de entender? »
  12. Q23, correction of wording of response options.
    • In telephone script added the word “de” in front of response options 2 and 3.
  13. Q24, changed wording for consistency among versions.
    • Mail Survey, changed “que le brindó” to “que recibió.”
    • Scannable Survey, changed “que le brindó” to “que recibió.”
  14. Q29, changed dash to ‘a’ for consistency among versions.
    • Mail Survey, second response option, changed “9 - 12” to “9 a 12.”
    • Scannable Survey, second response option, changed “9 - 12” to “9 a 12.”
    • Scannable Survey, removed underline from “completado.”
  15. Q32, changed wording for consistency among versions.
    • Telephone script, changed “¿Qué idioma habla usted por lo general en casa?” to “¿Principalmente qué idioma habla en casa?”
    • Proxy script, changed “¿Qué idioma habla [SAMPLE PATIENT NAME] por lo general en casa?” to “¿Principalmente qué idioma habla [SAMPLE MEMBER NAME] en casa?”
    • Mail Survey, removed underline on “Principalmente”
    • Scannable Survey, removed underline on “Principalmente”
    • Telephone scripts – regular and proxy – removed ‘habla” from the phrase at the end of the question “Diria usted que habla.”
