Applicability of Reporting Requirements for Home Health Agencies Affected by California Wildfires
folder_openOther Announcementscalendar_todayPosted November 7, 2017

This announcement serves to inform Medicare-certified home health agencies that the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is granting exceptions under Medicare quality reporting and value-based purchasing programs. HHAs will be granted exceptions without having to submit an extraordinary circumstances exception request if they are located in one of the California counties which has been designated by Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) as a major disaster county. If FEMA expands the current disaster declaration for the California wildfires to include additional counties, CMS will update this communication.

For details of the scope and duration of the exceptions under the Medicare quality reporting program, please refer to the CMS Memo linked here: https://www.cms.gov/About-CMS/Agency-Information/Emergency/Downloads/Memo-Requirements-Facilities-CA-Wildfires.pdf, CMS will continue to monitor the situation, adjust exempted reporting periods and submission deadlines, updating this Memo accordingly.

You can find additional details and materials on the Wildfires webpage, and find further information about extensions and exemptions for affected home health agencies at this website: Home Health Quality Reporting Requirements.
