Newly Posted Versions of the Telephone Proxy Scripts

The Home Health Care CAHPS (HHCAHPS) Survey Coordination Team has posted revised versions of the HHCAHPS proxy telephone scripts for all languages in which the HHCAHPS Survey can be administered by telephone mode (English, Spanish, Russian, and Vietnamese). A change was made to Q17 of the proxy telephone interview script to remove the sample member name fill, which brings this question in line with the way Q17 is worded in the mail survey. CMS has decided that the wording of this question in the telephone scripts (for both the sample member and the proxy respondent) should be exactly the same as it is in the Mail Survey questionnaire (with no fills).

Additionally, the translation of the word “MISSING” (as part of the MISSING/DK response option that follows every question) in the Russian-language version of the telephone scripts for the sample member and the proxy respondent was revised slightly. Please note that “MISSING” is not a word that is ever read to respondents; therefore, this change should not impact the administration of the instrument in any way. No other changes were made to any of the telephone scripts.
