Announcement

Only ICD-10 Codes are Acceptable for Primary Diagnosis and Other Diagnosis Variables Starting with Q4, 2015
folder_openData Submissionscalendar_todayPosted November 19, 2015

This announcement serves as a reminder that ICD-10 codes are the only codes that will be accepted by the HHCAHPS Survey Data Center for the Primary Diagnosis and Other Diagnosis data variables for calendar year (CY) 2015, Q4 onward, beginning with the October 2015 sample month. HHCAHPS Survey vendors that do not receive an appropriate ICD-10 code(s) for these data variables need to code them as "M" for missing. If any ICD-9 codes are included in the XML file, it will cause the file to fail during upload to the HHCAHPS website.

Per the HHCAHPS Survey protocols, it is permissible to allow home health agencies (HHAs) to submit a secondary file to their vendor at a later date (before the quarterly data submission deadline) that contains ICD-10 codes, if it is not possible for them to submit these codes by the monthly file deadline.

For questions, contact the HHCAHPS Survey Coordination Team via email at hhcahps@rti.org or call toll-free at (866) 354-0985.
