Changes to the Chinese-language versions of the Home Health Care CAHPS Survey Materials

The following are changes that were recently made to the Chinese-language versions of the Home Health Care CAHPS Survey questionnaires, including the regular and optical scan versions of the questionnaire, the cover letters, Consent to Share Responses question, and to the OMB disclosure notice. These changes were made to ensure consistency across both the Simplified and Traditional versions of the HHCAHPS Survey materials. Note that both the Simplified and Traditional versions of the Chinese-language materials have been updated.

Changes Made to the Simplified Chinese Language Questionnaires

  1. Revised Q3 to be more aligned with the translation in the Traditional Chinese-language questionnaire.
  2. Revised Q7 to be more aligned with the translation in the Traditional Chinese-language questionnaire.
  3. Revised the response categories in Q29 to be more aligned with the translation in the Traditional Chinese-language questionnaire.
  4. Deleted an extra period in Q33.
  5. Revised the response categories in Q34 to be more aligned with the translation in the Traditional Chinese-language questionnaire.
  6. Global changes throughout the questionnaire:
    • Revised the translation of “home health care” to be more aligned with the Traditional Chinese-language questionnaire.
    • Revised the translation of “did not” to be more aligned with the Traditional Chinese-language questionnaire.
    • Revised the translation of “how often” to be more aligned with the Traditional Chinese-language version of the questionnaire.
    • Deleted the word “please” that was not included in the English-language version of the questionnaires.

Changes Made to the Traditional Chinese Language Questionnaires

  1. Revised the instructions for completing the questionnaire.
  2. Revised all questions except Q7, 10 and 28 to be more aligned with the Simplified Chinese-language questionnaire.
  3. Removed the English word YES” from Q33 in the questionnaire.
  4. Bolded additional characters in Q3, Q4, and Q5.
  5. Global changes throughout the questionnaire:
    • Revised “questionnaire” to be more aligned with the translation in the Simplified Chinese-language questionnaires.
    • Deleted “please” that was not in the English version

Changes Made to Both the Simplified and Traditional Chinese-Language Mail Survey Cover Letters #1 and #2

  1. Revised the translation of “home health care” so that it is consistent in both the simplified and traditional versions of the letters.
  2. Revised the translation of “PRINT SAMPLE IDENTIFICATION NUMBER HERE” so that the translation is more consistent in all Chinese-language versions of the letters.
  3. Revised the translation of “If you have any questions about the survey, please call NAME toll-free at 1-XXX-XXX-XXXX so that the translation is more consistent in all Chinese-language versions of the letters.
  4. Changed the formatting to make it more consistent in all Chinese-language versions of the letters.

Changes Made to the Consent to Share Response Categories

  1. Revised the translation of “home health care” to be more aligned with the translation in the Chinese-language version of the questionnaires.

Changes Made to the Office of Management and Budget Disclosure Notification

  1. Changed the formatting and used the same font for all text.

Changes Made to the Traditional Chinese-Language Consent to Share Responses Text

  1. Revised the translation of “address any concerns” to be more aligned with the translation in the simplified Chinese version
  2. Revised Q35 translation to be more aligned with the translation in the simplified Chinese version
  3. Revised the translation of “We will not share your answers to this survey linked to your name unless you give your permission for this information to be shared with your home health agency” to be more aligned with the translation in the simplified Chinese version

Changes Made to the Traditional Chinese-Language Office of Management and Budget Disclosure Notification

  1. Revised the translation of “Paperwork Reduction Act” so that the translation is more consistent between simplified Chinese version and traditional Chinese
  2. Revised the translation of “collection of information” so that the translation is more consistent between the simplified Chinese version and traditional Chinese version
  3. Changed the first part of the text (instructions for vendors) to English to be more aligned with the translation in the simplified Chinese version

Changes Made to the Traditional Chinese-Language Supplemental Questions

  1. Revised the translation of “home health care” throughout the questions to be more aligned with the translation in the main questionnaires.
  2. Revised all questions except S1, 8 and 9 to be more aligned with the Simplified Chinese-language supplemental questions.
