CY 2012 Annual Payment Update Reconsideration Process News

The HHCAHPS Coordination Team is issuing this e-mail message to all approved HHCAHPS Survey vendors to provide guidance on dealing with questions from their client home health agencies (HHAs) about the 2012 annual payment update (APU) reconsideration process.

  • Per the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), all HHCAHPS survey vendors should advise their client HHAs that contact them about their CY 2012 APU compliance decision, to follow the instructions in the letter that they received if they wish to request reconsideration of the CMS decision concerning HHCAHPS.
  • If an HHA asks the HHCAHPS survey vendor to provide documentation about the HHA’s participation in HHCAHPS during the HHCAHPS Survey participation period for the CY 2012 APU (from July 2010 through March 2011), the HHCAHPS survey vendor should provide information about the data that they collected and submitted to the HHCAHPS Data Center on behalf of the affected HHA.

HHCAHPS survey vendors are reminded that CMS makes the determination about receipt of the CY 2012 APU; the HHCAHPS Coordination Team is not involved in that decision. HHCAHPS survey vendors should advise HHAs to follow the CMS reconsideration process instructions that were included in the letter that the HHAs received. HHAs must submit their reconsideration requests within 30 days of receipt of the letter from CMS.
